7 Reasons To Love Beast Heroes by Cynthia Sax

Flashes Of Me is a modern sexy twist on the classic Beauty and the Beast story. Henley, the hero, is a yummy beast, my favorite kind of hero.

Why do I love beast heroes?

1)      The beast hero doesn’t judge his heroine based on her appearance. Henley is huge and scarred and a bit scary. He’s been judged his entire life based on his appearance. He certainly doesn’t judge Kat based on her beautiful face. He looks beyond the exterior to see the beauty within her. This is a lasting beauty, a beauty that will withstand the ravages of time.

2)      The beast hero is a survivor. Henley, like many beast heroes, is scarred. He was hurt protecting a loved one. When this happened, he didn’t curl up into a ball and fade away to nothing. He endured. If he faces hardship again (and we all face hardship), I know he’ll survive.

3)      The beast hero values his friends. Many people are scared of Henley. They avoid him in the hallways, leave elevators when he enters. When he meets Kat and she treats him as a human being, he treasures her. He realizes she’s a rare, special person.

4)      The beast hero is protective. Henley knows that responsibilities come with his great strength and size. He willingly puts his heart and his life at risk to safeguard the people he cares about.

5)      The beast hero is passionate. Emotions are usually close to the surface with the beast. He’s primal, savage, and oh-so-very sexy. When Henley falls in love, he falls hard, and there’s nothing he won’t do for his woman.

6)      The beast hero takes action. Henley isn’t a big talker. Few beast heroes are. He expresses his love, his emotions, through his actions. He doesn’t simply tell Kat he cares for her. He shows her... in a BIG way.

7)      The beast hero doesn’t care about perception. Henley has been judged unfairly his entire life. He doesn’t care what strangers think. He’ll do anything to make Kat happy, even if that anything is embarrassing.
